Bio:
My background is a mixture of art, the web/IT, writing, teaching and project management, but I’m now trying to spend more of my time on things that matter to me.
I’m based in one of the home counties in the UK and still miss many of the wonders of London, where I worked for over 12 years. Some of my fiction draws on my experiences from the world of work, but whatever the setting I’m intrigued by the motivations and hidden lives of my characters.

Q: What will e-readers like about your book?
The readers who’ll enjoy it most will be those who don’t mind that it doesn’t fit into a standard e-book category. It’s a mystery but there’s also an unusual love story running through it, and it’s set against the politics of the modern workplace.

Q: Why did you go indie?
Looking for a publisher for my first book, I did it the conventional way and whilst I learnt a lot and got my share of rejection letters, it didn't get my book published. Since I’ve no plans to  give up writing fiction (too many characters and stories tugging at my sleeve) e-publishing offers me the chance to find an audience for my work.

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?
This novella (and most of my fiction) tends to cross genres, but these are some of the writers I enjoy reading: Kate Atkinson, Raymond Chandler, Paul Auster, Peter Carey, Angela Carter, Philip Pullman and William Trevor.

Q: Why did you go indie?

I've always been a do it yourself kind of guy. I may not be the best at something, but I love learning new things and perfecting a new craft. Writing and publishing isn't any different for me. This is an exciting time to be a writer.

Q: Who are your favorite authors in your genre?

My fvorite authors in my genre are hands down Ste[phen King and F. Paul Wilson. They are two of the most brilliant authors I have had the pleasure to read. The impact they have had on my writing, reading, and views is staggering.

Description

Crimson Leaf is a murder mystery set in a distant place and time.

It's the coming-of-age story of seventeen-year-old Crown Prince Travis who, when orphaned by a double murder, celebrates his freedom from a loveless and strict upbringing by running riot with his teenage friends. Travis doesn't curb his behavior until warned by his elderly guardian, Gareth, and then threatened by the Lord Chief Justice.

It is also the story of Lyssia and Albion, the last of the mysterious Guardians. Following Travis' coronation, a new sword master and a maid start work at the palace. Not long after, the king's brothers and sister are subject to murder attempts. It seems that a complex plot threatens the entire royal family.

In a race to find the murderer before he strikes again, the Guardians and the king's advisors become dangerously at odds. Meanwhile, Travis goes on a clandestine mission that will lead him to the unimaginable truth.

What will e-readers like about your book?

Their curiosity will be challenged by trying to work out who the murderer might be, while their emotions will be engaged, particularly by Travis' growing anguish and by Lyssia's entanglement with the Lord Chief Justice.

Why did you go indie?

I have an agent to represent my contemporary thrillers but have not found a suitable outlet for this fantasy, particularly as it is a hybrid mystery / romance as well. Previous readers enjoyed the story, so I'm sure it has an audience.

I'm happily married, and I'm the father to two beautiful little girls, ages five and two, who will never be allowed to date boys, drive in a car that is transporting boys or is heading to a place where boys are present, or wear clothing not approved by an Amish spinster in front of boys.
