Ten Good Reasons to Lie About Your Age - Stephanie Zia

Bio: I am a 56 yr old journalist (cleaning guru for 'Space Solves' The Guardian Saturday Magazine) and novelist. Two of my mass market romantic comedy novels have been print published by Piatkus (LittleBrown). More info:

Product description: . Sally Lightfoot is a 50 year old widow unsure whether to age gracefully or disgracefully. A year after her husband's sudden death and stifled by suburbia, she goes out to lose her 'wididity' her born-again virginity, facing humiliation and rejection square on.

E-readers like about my book?  A light, easy read with depth. It's sad but laugh out loud funny too. Early reviewers are picking up on the emotional journey.

Why indie? My agent couldn't sell it. I got close, meeting the HarperCollins editor who loved it but she couldn't get it past the (young, male!) sales reps who don't (yet) get the babyboomer market. My blog Confessions of An Author charts the journey of this novel for the past 5 years through rejection to setting up my own epublishing site where I also publish other midlist authors.

Favourite authors in my genre? I sit on the literary/commercial divide, I love John Steinbeck, Sybille Bedford, Jonathan Raban, Jane Gardam, Anne Tyler, Marian Keyes, Lisa Jewell

  1. Thanks so much for featuring my book. Would you believe I lied about my age here? I'm actually 55 but have been so worried about getting older I've reached there already.
